I've got tons of good stories but some of my favorites are about how a tiny raft and fireworks don't mix or about the time I spent in Alaska.
rafting down the Amazon
I grew up on Long Island and went westward as a young woman - early twenties - to pursue an undergrad degree and play, play, play. I stayed out there for about ten years, and managed to live in about four or five different states during that time. I picked up rock climbing in UT, white water rafting in AK, and finally a graduate degree in non-profit management in OR. I then moved to VT where I lived for about five years and started mountain biking, trail running, and telemark skiing. I had a few different jobs, consulting gigs, and I worked part time as a kid's ski instructor in the winter while living in VT. I made some really great friends I like to visit while living there too boot. I moved back to NY around this time last year. I work full time for a environmental youth development organization, and part-time as a consultant for an environmental consulting firm. Currently, I'm trying to figure out the whole work life balance thing here in NYC.
The time when I went white water rafting for the first time.... p.s. I don't know how to swim.
I went with a friend to see Alan Jackson in middle school (yep. I did say I grew up in rural Louisiana, after all). All I really remember is when the emcee guy came out and said "Are all y'all havin' a laaaaarge time?"<br><br> Dream concert? Oneida and Silver Apples playing together at the Joshua Light Show was kind of the best thing I've ever seen. Maybe add, like, a gamelan? And then have young Donovan float in from the sky on a purple flowery raft like on the cover of Wear Your Love Like Heaven.
I was raised in two countries. You probably won't get me to go skydiving but would completely be up for whitewater rafting in Austria or rappelling down a waterfall in Costa Rica. Notice the water theme. I love food, books, capoeira, rugby, whiskey and chocolate. One day I'm going to be an awesome surfer.

my first (and prob last) white water rafting trip
A good time for me could be... polishing off a few bottles of wine with friends, 90s karaoke, pixar movie marathon (if I'm sick), rafting (when it's warm), hiking, or cooking an extravagant meal. Lately I'm enjoying all of the random events in NY--live music, art exhibits, and so on, and trying to make it to brooklyn & queens more for good food. Now that it's getting warmer I am excited to be outside more, and am filling up my weekends with hiking, rafting, and other things to get me out of the city. Also I'm hilarious :-)
At a young age my parents considered me a sort of child prodigy. I learned to walk while many other were still opening their eyes. By the age of one I spoke 3 languages perfectly and in my spare time I helped motivational speakers write speeches, while furthering a deeper understanding of the meaning of life. I sailed the world in a custom constructed wooden raft with nothing more than three neatly packed lunchables and a some oreo cookies, which might I add are delicious, to hold me over for the journey. By the time I was four years of age I had already completed college and seen more of the world then Delta airlines and understood more about world travel then Columbus himself. I took a low paying job that underestimates my abilities and underpays me alongside morally bashing me with every day that passes. I go here daily as to “fit in” this society as a “common man”. I eat common food and often find myself engaged in child like antics with close friends of mine who know nothing of my worldly travels, deep understanding of the world and of the true meaning of life, which I keep in mole skin notebook I bought at Ralph's for $4.87. Alas they say a meaningful life is not worth living unless you can share a laugh with someone that could laugh harder at a joke then even yourself.
